Ministry of Education: 70% of new employees in strategic emerging industries and other fields come from vocational schools.

Chen Ziji, Director of Vocational Education and Adult Education Department of Ministry of Education
CCTV News:On December 8th, the Ministry of Education held a press conference to introduce the reform and development of vocational education in the 13th Five-Year Plan.
At the meeting, Chen Ziji, director of the Department of Vocational Education and Adult Education of the Ministry of Education, introduced that in the strategy of serving the country, vocational schools across the country have set up more than 1,200 majors and more than 100,000 specialty points, which basically cover all fields of the national economy and cultivate about 10 million high-quality technical and technical talents every year.
In the fields of modern manufacturing, strategic emerging industries and modern service industries, more than 70% of the new employees in the front line come from vocational college graduates, and the social recognition of vocational education has been significantly improved. Formulate and implement the "Guidelines for the Development of Talents in Manufacturing Industry" (2016-2020) to accelerate the cultivation of talents in short supply in manufacturing industry.
In terms of service area development, the action plan of East-West cooperation in vocational education was implemented, and the three major actions of "full coverage of cooperation between East-West vocational colleges, full enrollment cooperation between East-West secondary vocational schools, and full participation of vocational colleges in East-West labor cooperation" were promoted, with a total investment of more than 1.8 billion yuan, 683 specialty points, 338 training bases and 63 branch schools (teaching points) were built, and 99 vocational education groups (alliances) were jointly established, with more than 140,000 people receiving employment skills training.
More than 70% of students in vocational colleges come from rural areas, and millions of families have realized their dream of having the first generation of college students through vocational education. "One person in vocational education, one person in employment and one family out of poverty" has become the fastest way to block the intergenerational transmission of poverty. For example, the training program of "one person learns to cook, and the whole family gets rid of poverty" carried out by Shunde Vocational and Technical College is a typical example of vocational education helping precision poverty alleviation and rural revitalization. During the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" period, a total of 261 national demonstration counties (cities, districts) for rural vocational education and adult education were established.
In promoting education equity, tuition-free and bursary in secondary vocational schools cover more than 90% and 40% of students respectively, while scholarships and bursaries in higher vocational schools cover nearly 30% and more than 25% of students respectively. It took three years to expand the enrollment of 3 million students and serve the "six guarantees" and "six guarantees", which kicked out the "one foot at the door" of the popularization of higher education in China.
